"FINNEGAN"

Good morning Chris. Wanted to provide you with a brief update on blue yarn boy. We named him Finnegan (Finn). He is an absolute love and loves to be snuggled.

He is adapting very well to his new home. He loves romping around the yard and chasing leaves.  He has quickly picked up walking on the leash and takes short walks every morning with Tim.   He's also doing well with the crate, potty training and sleeping at night.

We are truly enjoying having a dog in the house again.  I included a few pictures below.  Thank you again so much - we love him!!  Happy Easter to you and your family.

Hi Chris -

I hope this email finds you well.  It is with great pleasure that I'm writing you to inquire about matching my family and I with another of your amazing goldens.  In the Spring of 2011 we were lucky enough to pick up Miss Purple - now named Phoebe.  I've attached a pic of her from just a couple weeks ago, beautiful and healthy.  I am wondering whether, as second time clients, you would like us to fill out a full application or if we can skip that step and just set up a time to meet.  Please let me know which you prefer, happy to do either asap as we are looking for a new pup soon.  Hope to hear from you soon!

Best,
Julian

Chris

It is with a heavy heart that I write this email to you.   We lost our beloved Rosie Jane this past weekend after 15 wonderful years.  You truly have the most wonderful dogs in the world.   We are all very sadden by her passing but my daughter is especially heart broken as they were best friends and in separable.   We would all like to get another puppy from you but my daughter is scared that if we do not do something soon she won’t be able to bear the thought of bringing another dog into our home and her heart.     We have no interest in breeding and are just looking for another family dog.   We would like another female and are particular partial to Rosie’s Cinnamon color but we know from looking at your website that you mostly have the lighter Golden’s now.

Thank you!

Joel

RUTLAND, MA

Chris

Thank you for your kind words in regards to Rosie, as we all have a huge hole in our hearts at her passing.

I have completed the information that you asked for and have attached it here.

I know my daughters are as excited as I am to hear back from you as they would like to have a puppy in our lives again as soon as possible.

Thank you

JOEL

Dear Mrs. Durning,

I am writing to tell you of the passing of our beloved Carly, a golden that we purchased from you in July 2001. Her sire was Hamilton and her dam was Colby. I believe she was the runt of the litter and your daughter was calling her Pippin when we picked her up.  She lived a long, very healthy life and gave us much joy. Though we got her mostly with my son in mind, she really became my husband's companion. None of us had had a dog, so we had no idea what an important part of our family she would become. I wanted you to know how grateful we are to have had Carly in our lives. You, through Carly,  have touched our family in a very special way.

Thank you.

SEPT. 11, 2014

Hello Chris!  Congrats on all your wonderful family celebrations!  And of course, you can always post anything I send you on Bella.  She had her first class, where she actually attended, tonight, and everyone was commenting on how calm she was.  Although she was really a bit anxious. . . . She is SO smart. And the other day, a neighbor teenager was over who adores Bella. Bella was sleeping, and she immediately woke up and ran over to her and started licking her!  It was really kind of amazing.  She is going to be some therapy dog.  No question she is born for it.
Anyway, I will try not to send you too much, but I will definitely stay in touch!
Take care,
Morna

SEPT. 7, 2014

Good morning Chris,
As you can see Bella is growing beautifully!  She is doing great!  We started puppy kindergarten this week at Tails U Win in Manchester.  I am so impressed with their training methods, so gentle and positive.  They use clickers, and Bella learned it on one click! :)  She is a joy.  At Tails U Win, they go all the way up to Therapy Dog II, so we'll be taking all classes.  She is a natural and just loves learning.
Thanks to you! :)

Hi Chris,

Just a note to tell you Bella is doing great.  She is SO smart and sweet.  She doesn't want to eat quite yet, but I'm figuring she will be hungry in the morning.  We've been hanging out all day and I swear she knows her name already.  She's been exploring every inch of our yard.  AND she watches TV and follows it.  I have never seen that before. :)  Anyway, we're all in love with her.

I'll send another update soon,

HAPPY 1ST BIRTHDAY

CAROLINA & BOONE LITTER

DOB: AUGUST 13, 2013

Hi Chris,

We just wanted to send you an update of our Finnigan! Our lime green yarn boy turns 1
today, and we can't thank you enough for him! He was so nervous the first day we brought him
home, but it took him no time at all to make himself comfortable and feel right at home. I
couldn't imagine having a better first dog. Everybody absolutely loves him! We get
compliments all the time about how handsome he is. He is even on the signs in the pet
aisle at Wegmans. Finnigan goes to daycare every week, where he got himself the title 'busy boy'.
He absolutely loves going, playing is where he really shines. Our trainer always comments on
how well he plays with other dogs, he is so gentle. Finnigan has done so well in his training
classes, he passed the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy test this spring and we are on track for the
canine good citizen test. He comes everywhere with us- he loves new adventures. He
went on a vacation to Cape Cod this summer and loved playing in the water. He is just the best.

Happy Birthday to all of Finnys brothers and sisters today, and lots of love to
Carolina and Boone! Thank you for our Finnigan!

Thanks again,
Aj and Breigh

["Max" is out of Carolina & Boone's wonderful Litter

DOB: Aug. 13, 2013]

Hello Chris,

This is John from the Ulchak family in Quincy MA. My family bought a Golden from you this past January. I just wanted to thank you for my beautiful dog. Max is now 11 months old. He's just a complete joy for my family. I have never received so many compliments before on how beautiful he looks. Everyday when I walk him I meet at least 1 person telling what a beautiful dog I have. He plays great with every dog he meets at the park. He's very gentle with all of them. We have bumped into quite a bit of grumpy dogs on our walks, but Max never growls, snaps, or is aggressive with any dog or person. He's a gentle giant. That's what the dog trainer calls him. She even tells me that Max has great play skills with the other dogs in the class, Always doing the puppy bow. I have no complaints about him. He's a wonderful dog and I love him so much. Only thing is I wish he would get tired quicker from walks and play time, but at least I'm getting my exercise. So I can't complain :) I'm always so happy to see him when I come from work and him giving me tons of kisses. I've attached some photos for you. Again, thank you for such a wonderful boy. -

Chris,

Sorry it's been so long since I sent a picture of our Abby!! She'll be 11 months old next Sunday and she is truly a joy!! We go to training every week and she has learned most behaviors exceptionally well. She loves long walks and chasing a tennis ball is her favorite activity. She's actually helping me to keep fit, too!!! I hope you, your family and all the pups are doing well.

Best,

Good afternoon Chris.

Our boy MAX has had a wonderful late January and February since we purchased one of Carolina's pups.  He loves the snow...he would rather sit on a pile of icy snow than enjoy the warm indoors.....

Max otherwise is doing great.

My son has been keeping up with your website. He indicated to us that the other two mail puppies in Max's litter have not as yet found their permanent home. Do you expect them to find a home once Spring truly arrives?  What price are you asking for either pup.....?

Thank you,

Chris,
Thank you for your email with such
kind words. Yes you have our permission to post our pictures . I regret not sending you yearly pictures. We are very busy with a growing family and travels. We are proud to say Ginger has never spent a day in a kennel. As we have such great family and friend support to care for her during our travels where she couldn't join us. I have been her groomer and teeth scaler too, funny as I am a hygienist .
Be in touch soon, I just gave a friend
your email as he is looking for a golden
puppy this coming spring .
Sincerely Charlotte

"RALEIGH"

[OUT OF OLIVIA & COOPER'S SEPT. 11, 2011 STUNNING LITTER -

DARK BLUE YARN COLLARED MALE]

Dear Chris (and all your family members),

I thought you'd like to see some pictures of Raleigh. As you know, he's now 20 months old. While he's an obedient doggie who's taken very well to training, he's also still a puppy at heart. No matter what the time of day (or night), he's ready to play, go in the car, go for a walk, play fetch or anything else with any member of the family. Yes, he's a true family dog who belongs to each of us and all of us at the same time.

He's now 87 pounds and gets a lot of daily exercise no matter the season. He's partial to fetching tennis balls, thought squeaky-toy footballs are okay too.

His ever-present smile together with his calm and gentle manner are a beacon that welcomes all whether they're children, adults, the elderly, the handicapped, toddlers… pretty much anyone who lays eyes on him. It's more than being a good-looking dog. He's got a good heart and that's what people see.

When we walk together, he takes both vocal commands and hand signals very well and usually draws big smiles of approval from drivers of cars who stop when we're in a crosswalk. More than a few children who pet him look up at their parents and say "I want a dog like this for Christmas." More than a few times, the parents pull our a scrap of paper and a pen to write down your name.

Once again, thank you for all you do.

Best and warmest regards,

Michael (ESSEX, CT)

MEET "COPPER"  -

[JEREMIAH & MILLIE'S 3/29/1998 LITTER!!]

Good evening,

We are so happy to write this email to you today,as it is a very special day for our family. Copper, our beloved pup from Jeremiah and Millie's 3/29/1998 litter has reached a milestone 15 years of age.  Wow.  What can we even say about our boy?
First, that we love him, more than words can even say.  He is the fifth member of our family.  It's hard to believe I got him when I was 8 years old, and here I am, 22, and he is still with me.  We grew up together, and I cannot have asked for a more loyal companion to share the past 15 years of my life with.

Everyone loves Copper.  He has a way of bringing out the best in everyone he meets.  I have friends who come over just to see him (nevermind me!) Countless people, friends and strangers alike, comment on what a sweet, beautiful, friendly boy he is.  I have never met a better dog. He is so loyal, all of my best memories are with him by my side. He's the epitome of man's best friend.  All he has is love, and he gives it to everyone.  Over and over again.

Though he has slowed considerably in the past year due to his age, he is our trooper. We look forward to whatever time we still have left with him, and will love him as we have, deeply and whole-heartedly, to the very end.

Thank you for such a wonderful dog.  He completes our family, and our lives, each and every day.

Sincerely,
Jenna Rossi

Ps. I attached a picture of Copper blowing out the candle on his slice of egg bread (Easter theme) tonight! Happy Easter!

UPDATE ON MURPHY & FINLEY

[BROTHERS OUT OF DAWN & GRIFFIN'S AMAZING AUGUST 9, 2012 LITTER!!]

Hi Chris,
It's Kristen dropping you a quick note (of Finley and Murphy's family!). I hope you are doing well and ready for the holidays.

I just wanted to drop you a message because the last week around Brookfield has been very rough due to last Friday's event next door in Newtown. Many of my neighbors and friends are attending funerals. And, the boys have struggled to understand how it can ever be safe in school. I wanted to let you know that your two dogs have provided not only our children but the entire neighborhood a great source of therapy. Neighborhood kids stop by after school to see the pups, moms at the bus stop tell me the dogs are their therapy of the morning. My own boys have gravitated toward hugging them even more and wanting to have them on their beds as they fall asleep.

You should just know that Fin and Murph are reaching their fuzzy little bodies and good spirits far beyond this house this last week. And, that we can all smile about!

Take care and happy holidays.

Hello Chris!

Hope is doing wonderful : )  She is such a sweet dog and seems very happy here.  We have been pleasantly surprised how well she is sleeping at night in her kennel!  It sure seems to make a difference since she is a bit older than Jasmine was when we got her.  We're working on potty training and showing her the correct outlet for chewing : )  We just cannot thank you enough for welcoming us into your kennel on such short notice.  Hope is just the bundle of fur and love we need!  I will send you pictures as soon as I can get her to stay still long enough!

With much gratitude,

Heather

DECEMBER 31, 2012

Dear Chris,
I am not sure you would remember my wife Heather and I, we adopted Jasmine from you in October of 2004, she was a puppy from the litter of Butter and Cooper.
Since then, we had many adventures with Jasmine, 3 children and moving twice, eventually moving back to my home town where I grew up, Sandy Hook, CT.
Sadly, the Monday after Thanksgiving we learned Jasmine had cancer, advanced cancer of unknown origin. The first sign anything was wrong was late Sunday night she didn't eat her dinner, given that never happens unless she was super sick, we brought her to the vet immediately the next morning. Sadly by Monday afternoon, we knew before the vet returned the results of X-ray and blood work that the disease was in her lungs, she started to have rapid breathing and shortness of breath. We went to the vet specialist and to the emergency vet a few more times over the next few days, we got together with the oncology vet and had an aggressive plan worked up. The plan was so aggressive it about melted our credit cards, but it was Jasmine and we would not allow money to be an issue, worth every penny for every second more we could have with her!
I won't go into the particulars, however, very sadly on Thursday December 13th at about 1am, Jasmine left us, cancer beat us all. My oldest son Wyatt, currently in 1st grade, learned at dinner that Thursday night that his dog had passed away and was now in heaven with his great grandfather who only passed a few days before Thanksgiving.
As you know, the next day was Friday December 14th, as I mentioned before, we moved back to my hometown of Sandy Hook, where I once went to Sandy Hook Elementary School and now my son attends school there too. I am also a first responder, I am a member of the Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company, inc, sadly I was one of the first on scene, but with great fortune I was there to see my son and quickly, with in minutes of our arrival I saw him and saw that he was safe, fortunately at the time, he didn't know what had happened, his teacher and another students parent had told them it was an animal that got in the school, a bear or a fox perhaps.
The hardest part of my day came when I finally left the firehouse at about 9pm Friday night, I went home to no Jasmine meeting me at the door, no happy dog wagging tail, not caring what had happened all day, just happy to see me come through the door, she always met me with an excited muffled bark, muffled because she always had to have a toy in her mouth to great me. The emptiness I already felt from a catastrophic day of events failed in comparison to not have my dog to come home to, ripped the remainder of my broken heart straight from my chest and run over by life!
There is one good thing to come of Jasmine's passing, and believe in God or not, I certainly do, I only saw his plan for a brief moment, but the moment was all I needed to see. Sadly, Saturday morning, my wife and I had to explain to Wyatt that 10 very close friends of his had been killed the day before, however, his response was that he knew they were safe with Jasmine in heaven, and since all his friends knew her, that she would find them and play with them. I am sorry, I can't write more about that as the tears are running down my face.
I thought we would wait some time before getting another dog as it didn't seem fair to the memory of Jasmine to rush out and look for another dog, but given the huge hole we have been left with, I think we need to bring some new life back to our house!
I am not certain of what the Emanuel Homestead puppy litters are currently like availability wise, however, I would, excuse me, we would have another Emanuel Homestead Golden in a second, Jasmine was the best dog I have ever had, I mean that with all truthfulness and sincerity! I have had many dogs in my life, mutts, Vizlas, Siberian Husky, Yellow Labs, and none of them compared to Jasmine's personality! She traveled with us on many vacations, she was welcomed where ever she went, even those who were not dog people welcomed Jasmine into their homes without hesitation. Heather had started to get into being a volunteer with her to visit local nursing homes, sadly that endeavor was cut short due to the aggressiveness of her cancer.
Many thanks for such a wonderful dog!
Sincerely,
Peter Barresi

Dear Chris,

I am not certain on how life goes from here. I have attached something my wife Heather wrote late last night about what I believe is nothing short of a miracle gift that we received from your family just over 8 years ago.

Jasmine – Our Love

September 6, 2004 – December 13, 2012

The snow and bitter cold is just another heartbreaking reminder that you are no longer with us. You, our baby girl, my puppy love, our sweet Jasmine. It has snowed three times since you passed. Each one piling on top of the other, inch by inch, reminding us that you will never bound out the door again during your favorite time of year. Out into the snow, rolling around till your covered, or running in circles, doing the Jasmine 500. You would just lie in the snow, beautiful, like an angel here on earth. I used to love to watch the snow fall, and someday, maybe I will again. For now, it is painful and cold. Looking into the bag of Christmas stockings was a moment I will never shake. Seeing yours in the bottom, never to be hung again, hurt beyond words. You have been ripped from our family way to soon. You are a beautiful spirit, the sole of a wise breathtaking angel. The dog of dogs, way too good to your “kids”. Letting them lay on you, love you and play all around, and sometimes on, you. Jackson was the first to notice that day. We were slowly, through our tears, packing your things away in the attic. He yelled at us over and over again, NO, NO, NO!!!! We tried to tell him it was ok, but how do you convince your child of such, when you yourself don’t believe it? Our sweet Wyatt, somehow, in a weird way, his subconscious told him you were gone. He did not ask to light the Advent candles that night or to say his now normal nightly prayers, for you and his brother and sister who were sick at the time. We finally had to sit him down after dinner and tell him you were gone. He first noticed your bed was no longer in the family room, and then instantly asked if you were gone, and then cried. He’s had your pictures on his dresser from the moment he learned you were very sick with cancer, and would not be getting better. Daddy and I have since stolen back two of the three pictures. We missed seeing your face every day. I will soon print out more so he can have them back in his room as well. He prays for you every day and night now. And hopes you are happy and playing with his family and friends in heaven. He pictures you flying around with your glorious angel wings!

Daddy and I, in less than 36 hours after you passed, realized how the timing of you leaving us was necessary. You were called home to heaven to serve as Wyatt’s strong and loving guardian angel. To protect him from the horrible monster of a man who would enter his elementary school the very next morning, and kill 20 of his friends, and 6 of the loving and kind adults he trusted in his school. Our small town, your last resting place, of Sandy Hook, CT, was changed forever. We are surviving sometimes one minute at a time, and sometimes, one hour at a time. Still in shock and utter disbelief that this horrific crime has really taken place, and shattered so many families in our own small neighborhood. This can’t really be happening. You are a large piece of hope and comfort that Wyatt clings to on a daily basis. He is so relieved that his many friends in heaven have is sweet dog, Jasmine, to play with and love. Sadly, you already know quite a few of them, and they loved you already. Others of his friends have since visited our home, and miss you very much. They have asked a lot for you. All of us who have been left behind are trying very hard to make some kind of sense of this utter madness. The after math of what this one man has done, is just unimaginable. Our sweet little school, Sandy Hook Elementary is gone. No longer will it ever hold the laughter and excitement in its classrooms and hallways that it had so long been used to. There are no words, Jasmine, to explain any of it. Your absence is often too much to handle on a daily basis. You were our steady rock, always there for any of us who needed you most. A calming presence in our very chaotic house. You are so much a part of our daily thoughts and routine, it is very hard to keep on reminding ourselves that you are not here. No more will we be able to let you outside. No longer will we be able to share cheese with you. No longer will we hear your barking when we return home. No longer do I feel safe with you next to me when I answer the door. No longer are you there to help me clean up after the kids in the kitchen. Every morsel of food that hits the floor is a hurtful zap to my heart. Our cats, your warm furry, companions, are very deeply grieving the loss of you. Alley has been even more quiet than usual, not coming out as much during the day, or looking for as many pets at night. And Jake has been the opposite. He is so beside himself, that he would not leave my side for over two weeks. You know life is out of balance when neither cat eats all of their treats. They loved you so much.

Yes, in time, the raw pain we feel now will lessen, and our daily memories of you will not hurt as much. We are trying to search our hearts for the answer on how to best honor your life. We would like to bring another sweet dog that needs a loving home into our lives again, when the time is right. We all strongly feel it is the right thing to do. I know Daddy and I are not sure where we should adopt from, or what breed is right for us, but my heart keeps pulling me back to where we began, with you, at Emmanuel Homestead Goldens.

I held you in my lap tonight, while I watched the end of a movie through my tears. I will never judge again, how people could keep an urn full of their loved ones ashes in their home. Boy do I understand now. I could not get you back home to us fast enough after you passed. I didn’t care what form it was in, as long as you were finally home. I will love and hug tight you in your urn forever. My puppy love, my Jasmine. Loved and cherished by all who knew you. You were a very special girl that had a way of moving right into everyone’s heart you met. Below is the song where your sweet name, Jasmine, came from.

"Sweet Southern Comfort" by Buddy Jewell

The full lyrics are:

Misty sunrise in my hometown,
Rows of cotton bout knee high,
Mrs. Baker down the dirt road,
Still got clothes out on the line,

Erwin Nichols there with Judge Lee,
Playin checkers at the gin,
When I dream about the southland,
This is where it all begins

From Carolina down to Georgia,
Smell the
jasmine and magnollia,
Sleepy Sweet home Alabama,
Roll tide roll,
Muddy water, Misssissippi,
Blessed Graceland whispers to me,
Carry on, Carry on,
Sweet Southern Comfort carry on,

Catchin catfish on the river,
Chasin fireflies by the creek,
Kissin Debbie Williams sister,
On the porch Homecommin week,

With rusty cars and weeping willows,
Keepin watch out in the yard,
Just a snapshot of downhome Dixie,
Could be anywhere you are,

In Carolina or in Georgia,
Open arms are waitin for ya,
Louisianna yellow rose of San Antone,
Arkansas, Mississippi,
Old man river whispers to me,
Carry on, Carry on,
Sweet Southern Comfort carry on,

As I sit here I'm surrounded,
By these priceless memories,
I don't have to think about it,
There's no place I'd rather be,

In Carolina or in Georgia,
Smell the jasmine and magnollia,
Sleepy Sweet home Alabama,
Roll tide roll,

Muddy water, Misssissippi,
Blessed Graceland whispers to me,
Carry on, Carry on,
Sweet Southern Comfort,
Carry on, Carry on,
Sweet Southern Comfort carry on

Greetings Peter - Heather & Family -

Our deep  and heartfelt sadness for your community - along with many prayers and concerns have been continual here in Woodstock & surrounding communities and churches for all of you in Newtown! I am so very sorry to hear of the loss of your special 'Jasmine' - I am sure you miss her every day. I so appreciate you letting me know of her passing & sharing with me all that you - your family and your community are going through.  Your writing, Heather, of your loving thoughts you wrote about Jasmine are just amazing.  Thank you for also sharing this with me.   The photos are so precious.

I am a Christian, and I truly believe that although we don't often understand all the things that happen in this world, I do know that our Lord is Sovereign & that there is always a purpose and a plan & that good always triumphs over evil, because God already has the VICTORY over the evils of this world. It is so clear to me, after reading all the things that you are sharing that Jasmine is bringing amazing truth to your family & to others - That God is there to bring comfort, love & grace & peace to those effected by this tragic evil that has struck to the core of your family, your community, all of us here in CT and across our nation! There continue to be many many miracles reported all over Newtown & it is in all these miracles of faith & surrender that we know & draw closer to Jesus!!   I am so blessed to know that in & through your loss of  "Jasmine" that you are able to believe that she is with the darling children and dedicated staff from your school who lost their lives on Dec. 14th! I believe that Jasmine is also one of those special miracles, too, that God has given to you & to others!  I would like to share with you in a separate email a writing that our pastor - Mike Moran wrote to all of us in our church right after the shooting in Newtown!  I will send it along too.  It was so helpful to all of us at our church who were struggling to better get a grip, if possible, on this evil tragedy!  I trust that you will find it a blessing too!

I look forward to working with you, when you feel the time is right, to consider bringing another Emanuel Homestead Golden puppy into your life, family & home.  I trust that another one of my special pups will bring you much joy and many smiles!

Thank you again for sharing with me of your loss of your amazing girl, Jasmine!!!  I look forward to staying in touch with you!

Have a Blessed Evening-

Chris & Mike Durning & Family

Greetings Peter, Heather & Family - I just wanted to forward this email to you that we received from our pastor, Mike , on Saturday morning (Dec. 15th) .... (Congregational Church of Eastford - Eastford, CT - 860-974-0294) - I trust that his words and the words of Scripture will minister & bring comfort to your hurting heart as you continue to work with your community to encourage and bring hope to the broken hearted. Maybe you would like to give Pastor Mike a call - He is wise & very sound & also a good listener.  I know he would welcome your call very much.

Subject: Newtown
Hello-  The horrific event in Newtown yesterday certainly is cause to stop and think, and for many to ask questions.  How can this happen?  Why?  What should I do?  I am asking these things myself, and thought I would share a few thoughts for today (poorly organized and hastily assembled):
First, what we just saw is clear evidence of how awful evil really is.  It was evil, pure and simple.  Evil should make us angry, and the results should make us grieve.  Satan's agenda in this is to steal and kill and destroy (John 10:10).  If Satan can separate someone from God, he has won.
Second, our Great God is good, all the time, and He is on His throne, all the time. The evil of men does not impugn the goodness of God, nor does it diminish His sovereignty.  Psalm 46 begins, "God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.  Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea..." The LORD God Almighty is where we should look to find safety.  That said, pray.  Pray with your kids.  Pray with other believers.  Look to your Bible.  Read Psalm 121 and Psalm 91 aloud.  Make sure and attend worship tomorrow.  We are safe in Him, and need to reassure one another of this. These words got my attention this morning:
Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy on me, for in you my soul takes refuge. I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings until the disaster has passed.
(Psalm 57:1)
Because you are my help, I sing in the shadow of your wings.
(Psalm 63:7)
Third, the sweep of Scripture is filled with events that are horrific.  When we read about such things in Scripture, the Lord always has an agenda.  He always wants His people to be close to Him, to turn to Him, and to turn from any sin in their own lives.  If there is sin in our hearts, right now we need to repent and get right with God.  We need Him, and confessing sin to Him wipes away any barriers between ourselves and the LORD.
Fourth - The Lord Jesus came to and gave His life to rescue us from sin and from death.  Jesus died so we can be free from the evil.  Do not let the Newtown horror detract from our worship of Jesus this Christmas season.  The enemy, Satan, would be very pleased if he has been able to separate us from the Lord and from His love and His goodness.  The enemy wants nothing more than to rob us of our joy.  Don't let him!
Fifth - Pray with all fervor for the people in Newtown.  We have the comfort they need... 2 Corinthians 1:3-5 says,
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort,
who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.
For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows.
Sixth:  Last night, we attended a performance of Handel's Messiah.  The finale was, of course, the Hallelujah Chorus.  In the end, Jesus wins!
After this I heard what sounded like the roar of a great multitude in heaven shouting: "Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God,
(Revelation 19:1)
Seventh:  We have the Lord, the hope, and His strength.  We need to be the people who are quick to find peace and safety so we can share it with others who are distraught.  It's like that announcement on the plane that tells the people traveling with children to put their emergency oxygen on first, than help the others.  Seek Him and be strengthened that we might be His agents to bring the healing only He can provide.
We will spend time in God's Word during the adult Sunday school time (9:45-10:45) tomorrow on this topic.
in Him,  Mike

OCTOBER 6, 2012

Hi Chris!

I wanted to send some pictures and give you an update on the golden Finley I purchased from you last year! Finley is from the Sophie and Winston litter 9/9/11.  He is doing wonderfully! He has turned out to be quite the amazing dog.  We are currently working towards obtaining the canine good citizenship certification and then from there we might even try to work towards therapy dog status! I believe Fin would make a perfect therapy dog due to his intelligence and mellow personality.  I couldn't have asked for a better dog.  Here are some pictures of him. Enjoy!!  -Erika

[OUT OF GABBY & WINSTON'S
WONDERFUL 4/28/2012 LITTER]

Hello Chris-

We are really enjoying Tyson and wanted to send some pix of how well our boy is doing.  Thanks again so much.  We are having a ball with him.

Howard

Follow Up - Monday - Sept. 24, 2012

Sure.  You can post whatever you would like to.  Unlike his name, he is much more of a lover than a fighter.  While he barks more than the average Golden, he is just a big mush.  Just runs over to whoever he sees sits in front of them and waits for the inevitable insurmountable amount of love and attention he gets.  He knows that at 7:30am we walk my oldest to the bus stop and he can’t wait to go.  There is no stick that goes untouched and nobody not kissed on the way.  We are eagerly waiting for the end of his nipping phase but he is just a great dog.  If his brothers or sisters miss him, please send them our way.  Let his folks know he is having a blast.  He is now at about 35 pounds, well on his way to becoming a nice big beautiful golden.  Thanks again.

"SAM"

[OUT OF GABBY & WINSTON'S 4/28/2012
GORGEOUS LITTER!]

Hi Chris!
Thought you would like to know that Miss Pink has been officially named "Sam", and is doing wonderfully!  We are working on our potty-training timing, and just purchased some toys for gnawing and fetching! She also has a new pretty pink collar and a tag with her name and our phone number on it! She slept for about 6 hours in her crate overnight, no whining or barking or anxious behavior at all!  She ate well, took her medicine, and loves playing in her water bowl (drinking is optional!). What a fantastic baby she is. We are so blessed to have found you and her! Folks are stunned that she is so well mannered, and she is a definite source of entertainment. Navigating stairs is somewhat daunting for her, but she is working it out and gets an abundance of praise at every step! Our cat has gone into hiding, and only comes out when Sam is asleep to peek at her ( too funny), so Sam has yet to have a face-to-face encounter as of today. We love her to pieces, and Brian and I must have said " She was meant to be ours" and " She is the perfect addition to our family" a million times! Thank you so much again, and we will be sure to keep you updated on her growth and maturation! Hope you don't mind the occassional picture too, as she is just too adorable to  not want to capture on film and share with everyone! -Heather & Brian, Logan , Jess & Sam, (and the cat-in-hiding,Jasmine ) IN CONNECTICUT!

PART 2 OF HEATHER'S SECOND EMAIL TODAY!

Thank you so much for your kind words and prayers. We are certainly doing the same for you!
I have to say, crazy as it may sound, Sam has already changed my family for the better! We usually have a somewhat chaotic start to the day, reminding children to dress, brush teeth, eat, etc. Today BOTH children not only took care of the above without being asked, they did it quickly & pleasantly, AND did their chores AND took care of Sam.
The reduction in the morning chaos was palpitable and truly amazing!
And it gets better! It carried on throughout the day! Laundry was done and put away without any argument, the house was cleaned (again, not an argument to be heard), and Sam was hugged, kissed, petted, played with, walked & watered , and kissed and hugged & played with some more!
Brian and I are astounded and amazed, and so grateful!
I do have a question for you though regarding feeding and watering though....
How much food would you recommend we give her (we are feeding 3x per day) per feeding, and how much water?
She has had water available at all times, and consumes it all (sooooo Retriever-esque of her!). We then bring her outside for 20-30 minutes and she will pee, then she will have an "accident" about 5-10 minutes after we bring her back inside.
Given the number of piddle related accidents we have had today, I am thinking perhaps I should reduce her water intake a tad, but I don't want to dehydrate her.
What would you suggest? She is going when we bring her outside, however she goes again after coming inside, so I think I must be doing something wrong here....
Please let me know what you think!
And you can absolutely post updates on our baby (or "Little One", as Jessica calls her!)....
We can't thank you and "the powers above" for introducing us and making our lives complete again with Sam!
-Heather IN CONNECTICUT!

["RILEY" - OUT OF SYDNEY & WINSTON'S LOVELY
1/16/2012 GOLDEN LITTER]

I will send more pictures soon, he is growing so fast at the first of the month when they weighed him for his heart worm and front line, he was just over 50 pounds, can I ask how big his parents got, just curious how big he may be as he is just 7 months.

He makes me so happy just to see that happy face and that tail wagging and he always greets you at the door when you come home.  I left for the day once and spent it with my friend and my daughter said that he cried a good part of the time I was gone and when I got home he did not let me out of his sight.  I felt bad, he is used to having me as I work from home but that day my son was gone too, if he is here he shadows him, which is good as Bill and I are going away for 4 days in October, a belated anniv/birthday trip.
I am so glad we found you and Riley, could not imagine life without him.
Kim & Bill W. -

PART 2 - KIMS SECOND EMAIL 8/26/2012

Yes you can feel free to post any of my updates on Riley, we looked at the picture of his mother Sydney and right now he is the spitting image of her, facial features and color, wow.  We are making an appointment for him to be groomed as it is time for his nails to be cut and ever since I cut Amanda's our first golden into the quick, I am nervous.
He is full of boundless energy, any ball is fair game and I have taught him to sit, shake and lay down.  He loves his walks in the woods and we are able to take him off his leash right here in our woods and he stays with us like Sunny did, he loves to run and stretch those legs and he has gone on the boat with Bill and I several times, we have a private lake and an association, he loves that too.
Jacob has given him many baths with TLC, he is not a fan of his brush yet, but it is getting better.  I have noticed that he is very protective of me for some reason.
He has been on several camping trips and he loves it, once you start loading the camper, he knows and goes and gets his leash for you, don't forget me, too cute as if we would go without him.  He knows the campground now and does his happy dance when we get there.  His favorite place to sleep camping is with Bill and I although ds not always, sometimes the floor with his pillow or with one of the kids.
He actually sits in a chair camping and here at hm on the deck or a backyard fire, Bill says we need to get him a chair with his name.  People cannot get over how he hops in a chair and sits or lays there.
Everyone at the vets office loves him and he does not even bat an eye when he gets his shots, couldn't care less.  He has truly been a blessing for us and the kids.  Jacob says the best part of his day is coming home and Riley runs to greet him.
I will def take a new picture and send it.

Kim & Bill W.

JULY 29, 20102

Hi Chris - attached is a picture of Katie, from Tasha & Teddy, 4/2006, and Abby, from Colby and Jedediah, 2/2007.  They are the love of our lives.  The added little dog, Cocoa is a mini-dachshund we herited from my mother-in-law because she couldn't take care of her. So, we have  6, 5, and 4 year old dogs.  They all get along and love each other.  Katie is definitely my people dog - wants to go to everyone and Abby is more my other animal dogs.  She is very devoted and attached me.
Just thought you might like to see them and know they are very much loved.

Hi Chris,
Thank you for inviting my family and I into your home
and allowing us to be a part of your ‘extended family’.
The children are so excited and I must say my wife
and I are as well.
There is no doubt in my mind that your pups are incredible special, well cared for and deeply loved.  Our experience today only deepens our commitment to provide the best possible care and in the words of my youngest daughter Allison – “love” for our newest member of the family.
The additional information you have provided is incredibly helpful and has already been printed and will be
read before the weekends over.
I am truly impressed how well organized, professional
and caring you are.  We have been blessed to
have found you and your pups.
If possible next Saturday at 1:30 would be a great pick up time.
Lastly, what type of crate did you suggest would be best
(forgot to write it down when I got to the car, it
must have been all the excitement)
Have a great weekend.

Hi Chris,

Thank you for all the information you sent. It will be very helpful.

She was great yesterday and last night. She fits in great and Maggie loves her and I think the puppy loves her too. She has been eating, going the bathroom, and sleeping fine.  Everyone here loves her already and is so happy with her.  We still have not picked out her name but I will let you know what we choose.
As you can see by the picture she loves to cuddle with Maggie already.

Glenn and I would like to thank you for making our decision process easier. It is very difficult to pick out the right puppy when they are all so adorable.

We have her 1st puppy appointment on Friday at 2PM so I will let you know if we have any problems, I do not expect any.

Thank you again,

Sue & Glenn LaPlante & Family

Hi Chris - I hope things are going well for you.  I wanted to give you an update on Bo & Bella - they've adjusted very well to their New Home with Mommy & Daddy.  They are our little angels and we love them to pieces.  They are getting so big, no more little puppies that's for sure.  They love playing outside fetching their toys and playing catch me if you can - well I'll just tell you that Bella is a very fast runner and her brother doesn't stand a chance to catch her!!  I've attached some new pictures of them for you!
Bella is dainty as ever and Bo is just a big lug, they are so adorable and we thank you very much - I couldn't imagine my life without them!!  They are so good with children, it's amazing - I've never seen a dog cry when they see children and are so happy to play with them.  Our neighbors children are having a ball with them!
Take care and talk to you soon.

Dear Chris,

Quick update, we absolutely love our new Golden “Kodi.” He came to work with me on Monday to my job at the Meriden Animal Hospital . I had him checked and he had the remaining shots needed. They loved him. The staff all took turns holding him. My wife Jill loves him so much. When she came home from Boston she held him for two hours. He’s a great dog. I passed along one of your cards to my buddy Dave who lost his Golden around Thanksgiving. He saw Kodi and fell in love. I’m sure when its time he will be calling you. We really enjoyed the total experience at your place and are very thankful. Kodi has a great temperament and disposition. He is definitely filling the void.

Sincerely Yours,

Good Morning Chris,

Please, feel free to share my post and pictures of Jack! Thank You so much, we look forward to hearing from you. Winston and Lacey are beautiful dogs!!! We will stay in touch and you will be the first to know when we are ready to bring home another amazing Emanuel Homestead Golden! I can’t say it enough, Jack truly was the best dog ever. Honestly, his face was so expressive, he could nod his head, raise an eyebrow, and he and I could communicate perfectly! People everywhere would comment on how handsome he was and what a personality/temperament he had!

Enjoy the day!

Greetings Christine, Michael, Shaun & Kathryn!

Thank you for your email sharing your loss of Jack! He sounds like such a wonderful fellow & his pictures are just wonderful. I looked up the records I have from when Michael & Shaun came to choose & bring Jack home! He was born March 29, 1998 out of my Jeremiah & Millie! A lovely litter of 11 pups - 7 boys & 4 girls! Your boy was wearing a Kelly Green Yarn Collar for his identification in his litter!

Let me know if it is OK with you for me to post your update & pics of Jack -

I have Winston now - Jeremiah's amazing grandson - who has such a gentle & loving temperament & personality - & a most handsome look & appearance - He is the sire of several of my pups I currently have! I also have Lacey - one of Jeremiah's daughters - who is one of my moms of a litter I currently have!

You can see more info & pictures on my web site about these special Goldens & their litters!

I look forward to staying in touch with you & working with you to place another darling Emanuel Homestead Goldens with you & your family when you are ready!

Will send you out some additional information to bring you up to date on things going on here with me, with my family & also my Goldens!!

Again - I am very sorry to hear of the loss of your Jack! I know you miss him very much!

SEPT. 19, 2011

Chris,

My husband and step-son came to you many years ago to adopt Jack. He was born March 29, 1998. Unfortunately, we had to put him down Saturday, September 17, 2011. My husband Michael believes that Jeremiah was his father. After looking at your site, there’s no doubting the resemblance! However, he cannot remember Jack’s Mothers name.

Jack truly was the best dog ever. He truly loved us, and we, loved him. When our daughter was born, he would stay by my side for a rub while the baby was rocked. When she was teething, he was the only thing that calmed her down. One time my husband left the cellar door open, and I came into the kitchen to see my daughter at the top of the stairs, but, Jack was in front of her blocking her from falling. He had high praise and an extra rawhide chip for that! He would let her climb all over him, stick her hands in his mouth, tug his ear. You name it, he tolerated it. We never once had to worry that he would snap. His temperament was amazing! He would do anything for us. He was very protective of me and my daughter.

We just wanted to Thank You for such an amazing dog! Once our hearts have healed, we will be returning to you for a new addition to our family!

SEPT. 1, 2011

Hi Chris,

I just wanted to give you a "Jeter" update. He is the most loving, happy, well behaved, beautiful dog! We just can't get over how smart he is and how quickly he learns. He just loves to be with us and he is like my shadow...which I love. We can't compliment you enough on the breeding of these gorgeous dogs. He loves people, pets and has brought so much joy to our household. Kellie actually "hopped" around outside in a playing stance we haven't seen since we lost Samantha. She likes him around, you can tell, and he seems to know she's an old girl and not to get too rough.

We wish we could have taken a few more!!! We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for caring and loving your animals soooo much. It definitely shows. Please enjoy some of the pictures. Their will be more coming!!!!

Hi Chris,
Today we joyfully celebrated Duncan's first birthday! Coming from the Teddy and Lacy liter we knew he would be a sweet pup but we are truly amazed by how loving he is to the whole family and anyone he meets. He still has quite a bit of youthful puppy energy and there are some cute habits he will probably never grow out of - for instance, when we sit on the floor he likes to sit in your lap (which is really quite an amusing sight as he is now up to 75 lbs!) and we can't have a family hug without him joining the group. He absolutely loved the snow this past winter and delights in taking walks through the woods. Attached is a picture from his first day at our home and another taken this spring. He has such an incredible smile it always warms to the heart. We are so happy to have him as part of our family.
All the best to you and yours!

Hi Chris,

Hope everything is well with you and your family. Its Abby’s and Runner’s first Birthday today! They have grown up so much in just a year. They are truly beautiful! (See picture attached). Runner loves to fetch balls all the time. Abby will help him when he misses any; he does retrieve two balls at once and returns them right into our hands. Some of our friends call Abby the "Princess" because she is so pretty and proper. So far this summer we’ve taken them camping up in the White Mountains and swimming in the ocean, rivers, and lakes. Soon we are headed back north for more adventures. Abby and Runner are loved every day in many ways.

God Bless,

["MISS MOLLY" OUT OF LUCY & WINSTON'S BEAUTIFUL 3/23/2010 LITTER - PINK YARN COLLAR]

A picture we've been trying to get suddenly arose without any real effort earlier today when Molly brought her Santa toy onto the stool right in front of me.

Molly is still a puppy of course but what a delight!  She envisions herself as a master gardener and stick collector - seemingly doing some weeding and stick gathering in the back lot on our property on each visit to do her duty.  The grandkids love her as she does them.  She still sleeps in our bed with us most nights - as she did her first night with us.  She weighs about 50-55 pounds and has been very healthy;  she will be spayed in early January.  Her favorite trip until the outside venue closed at the end of October was the Coventry Farmers Market on Sundays.

Hi Chris, Here are a few recent photos of our Brady.  [ #9317 - Granddaughter Ella with Brady.  #9436 - Duncan and Brady playing tug. ]   He is already up to 20 pounds - can't believe he was only 5 pound when we brought him home!  He is eating well now, still gets his acidophilus every day, along with the canned pumpkin which our vet had recommended, and his digestive system seems to be calming down.  He can go all night now without having an "accident".   Of course he is a lot of fun and full of puppy nonsense, including chewing everything he can get into his mouth.  He has decided to bring in our newspaper every morning without our ever training him to do that.  He is learning to walk on leash although he thinks he should be leading us; he does better when he has something to carry while walking.  But we are impressed at how well he behaves when strangers stop to greet him, then he is calm and friendly.
When Jen and family came for a visit last month, her Duncan and our Brady spent all their time together playing until we finally had to separate them for a while to get some peace and quiet (Brady is the noisy one when they play).  We are going to Jen's for Christmas and taking Brady with us so we look forward to that.  We wish you and your family happy holidays!

Today Abby and Runner turned four months old! You were right on saying we are perfect matches for each other. We all have our regular routines that they have grown into very well. I believe since they have each other and play all the time they're getting plenty of exercise and know when its time to chill. Our friends and family give us compliments on how well behaved they are. Some say they can't believe that puppies can be so calm.  Abby and Runner are quick learners and very obedient. We couldn't be happier!

Merry Christmas to you and all of your family,

Brian, Cheryl, Kaylene and Nicole

P.S. I have attached some photos for you to see how beautiful they are

"DUSTY"

Hi Chris.  I hope that your granddaughter is doing well.  Just a quick note to let you know that Dusty is doing great.  We are up at our place in New Hampshire and he has taken to it nicely.  We have been working on some trails in the woods and he has gathered up all of the sticks and pine cones he can. (FYI, we learned that olive oil works great on removing pine sap from dog fur.)  He will sit for a treat and comes when called.  When he is not in his crate he just lays by your feet.  He really is very calm.  We have been leaving him in the crate for short periods of time during the day and he is fine.  He does wake up a few times during the night and can get himself really worked up.  Do we just let him howl until he falls back to sleep or should we reassure him that we are still here?  Thanks for your help.
Nancy & Paul, S. Glastonbury, CT

[Response- 12/5/10 - Greetings Paul & Nancy - Thanks so much for your email & wonderful photos of Dusty!
I bet you are enjoying being at your place in NH!!  Dusty looks great & seems to be quite happy & settled in!  The crate training should go well for you - but he does need to learn to settle himself down on his own - That usually works best 'during the daytime' when you can go out & he has to learn that you will be back & that he is just fine!!  He can get some of that 'protesting' out of his system when you aren't there to have to listen to it!  He will get to liking his own place!!  Of course, he will always love being with you - but it gives you a lot of options if he can also spend some time safe in his crate, too!
If you have his feeding taken care of early enough in the afternoon - pulling his water at about 6 - He should be fine through the night if he has had a late potty hit as late as you can have him go!
He should settle down in the night pretty quickly if you just let him
have to work it through -
If he can get you up - you start 'training' him to
expect that you will get up! -
See how that goes & stay in touch!!  Let me know how you all are doing -  Give Dusty some cuddles from me!
Have a great week-
Chris]

We've picked names out for them, Bo (means 'Handsome')

Such improvement for their 2nd night!!

"BENTLEY"
[OUT OF SOPHIE & WINSTON'S 7/31/2010 LITTER]
(RED YARN COLLARED MALE)

Good Morning !
Just wanted to share with everyone our new little buddy, Bentley! We got him yesterday. He is 14 weeks old and is super smart already! He already sits and retrieves a ball ! Didn't plan on getting a new pup so soon after loosing our Molly but we missed having a dog in the house. He is already 18lbs and is supposed to get to about 80lbs. ! Daryn is so excited to have another boy in the house. I was skeptical about getting a male but he really is sweet and he actually listens really well !
********
Our Bentley is doing great, He had a wonderful transition. He was asleep in front of our fireplace in no time. He doesn't like the steps but he is so smart and I'm sure he will do fine by tomorrow. He is also doing well pottie training. The girls are doing great taking him out.
Thanks again for helping us fill the little void in our family. I know I was skeptical at first but I know we made the right decision.
He is a joy !

Sincerely,

'DIVI'
[OUT OF SOPHIE & WINSTON'S JULY 31, 2010 LITTER]

Hi Chris-
The first few days with Divi (orange-yarn boy) have been so much fun!  He is such a love!  He can't wait to have his belly rubbed or cuddle with me on the couch.  Everyone is so impressed by his calm nature.  To pass on some praise to you - his vet said she could tell how much you had been working with him.  Instead of jumping on her like most dogs, Divi calmly sat by her feet and waited for her to pet him.

You were very right about his personality.  He loves being a part of everything, which is great, but also makes crate training a little but more difficult.  I ended up sleeping next to the crate for the first few nights.  Last night I left him in the crate by himself and I slept upstairs - it only took him 3 minutes of whimpering before he calmed himself down.  Huge accomplishment!

I thought I'd send you a picture of the little guy on his daytime bed.  He likes to rest on it while I'm cooking in the kitchen or relaxing in the living room.   And he's just picked up the habit of dragging it into whichever room I'm in so he can be closer to me.

Thanks for such a great puppy!

I hope all is well.  Well, we're back seriously looking at Goldens again, having so much enjoyment from Riley who came from you (Teddy/Allie) back about 4 years ago.   (Please see attached recent photo!) it was taken on a hike & she loves the outdoors/hiking! We periodically check your site and saw that you have 2 November litters.  We are interested in a 1/2 Nordic female and it appears that you have something available!

Please advise what your waiting list is like and where
we would stand as of today.

Thanks.

[Out of Sophie & Winston's
Aug. 9, 2010 Litter]

OCTOBER 11, 2010

Hi Chris,

What a wonderful weekend this was!!!  Abby and Runner love their new home. They have been busy meeting all of our family and friends. It was fun watching everybody’s reactions when they see that we have two. Even we got a surprise when family came all the way from New Hampshire just to meet them.

It’s incredible how quick they are learning. We have been bringing them to their potty area, and they now run along side the fence until they get to it. Abby uses it without our coaxing. Runner is almost there. Crate training is working well.  The first night was a little rough (as expected) but the last 2 nights they slept seven hours and no messes.

The temperament you strive to have in your puppies is very apparent.  Along with all the recommendations and tips you’ve given us, it is going to be easy and fun to train Abby and Runner. They are going to grow into beauitiful Goldens.  We will keep in touch and send pictures soon.

Thank you for helping us making our home like a little piece of heaven with your Homestead Goldens.

"DART" Is Out Of Sydney & Winston's 1/16/2010 Golden Litter -

Hi Chris,
I had to write to you - just saw all the beautiful new pups from your new litters - they are incredible. I tell everyone about you so they know where to go for a Golden. Dart is doing great - almost 8 months old (Sidney/Winston 1/16/2010) and he graduated from manners class last week. He is so smart and fast to train; Of course his counter-surfing is his worst habit but we're working on that, and the box of tissues that he shredded recently, but I suppose it could be worse!  Just give him a stick and he'll gladly trade any ball or toy for one - he is a cheap date - (when he pulls a log off the wood pile and they all come tumbling down I'm not so happy with him... but maybe in winter he can help bring the wood inside for the fire)! He is such a handsome chap - we get complimented all the time. Sometimes I call him Winston Jr - but other times he looks just like Sydney - a nice mix of the two. Enclosed are some recent pictures - he sure is the King over here.  We love him so much and are so glad we found out about you and your gorgeous pups. Have a great fall and I'll keep you updated on our progress. Michele

"MOLLY" MEETING HER NEW BABY GOAT FRIEND!

AUGUST 31, 2010

Oh Chris,
We love her to pieces! ["MOLLY" - Pink Yarn Collared Female Out Of Lucy & Winston's 3/23/2010 Litter] Our three grandchildren were over last evening along with their parents, and Molly had a marvelous time playing ball and running with the kids.  When she would tire out she would come up on the porch with us older folk and lie down next to my mother.  While we had a bed made up for her in our room, I have to say that she ended up sharing ours.  All went well and there were no accidents.  Her greatest fear right now is stairs; however, she has learned to go up and down a flight of three and we shall keep working with her.  Tomorrow she gets her rabies shot so life will have to be calm for a few days after that.  Thank you so much for raising such a special puppy and allowing her to be ours!

AUGUST 26, 2010

Hi Chris, well Sadie is all of 7 months old now and as it took me all of 5 years to go from dogless to dog owner again I am definitely thinking she will need a little brother.  Please keep me “in the loop” about your upcoming litters, not sure if winter or spring will be the ideal time but I am assuming the pictures of your pups will tell all, just as Sadie’s pink yarn photo won my heart!  Sadie is doing very well…wish the “alligator mouth” stage and the “I need that dirty sock” phase would pass but otherwise training has been a breeze, she wants so to please.  Sit, gimme your foot, hit the dirt and “I can talk” were all 20 mins in the making…even stay and catch were a one session success!   Love her sooo much.  Thank you for taking all steps to insure your pups are so healthy and well tempermented.  Thanks for keeping me in the loop for the upcoming litters…definitely need to consider a little brother, Gabe has already named him Cypher!! Sadie is a joy and your pups and your kennel have won my praise over and over…especially when her first puppy visit was worm free!!!  Being a dog owner for most of my life I understand what that means and what care must be taken to insure the health of your pups!!  Please keep me up-to-date on the new pups as I see a brother in our near (within a year) future.  I’ll send photos when I can…most have been on my cell phone and I haven’t uploaded those. August 19, 2010

Hi Chris - A good first night.  It started with territory familiarity and marking, and then introductions were made.  Charlie was really excited to have a new friend, although it will be some time before she can play at his level.  The family gathered on the patio while the two dogs got acquainted in the back yard.

["CHARLIE" - OUT OF LIL' BIT & JEDEDIAH - 5/30/2009 LITTER]
As is our habit, new names for our girl were suggested and tried out to see her response.  As of this morning, she seems to be responding best to "Bitsy" so "Delilah" is out (probably for the best - who wants THAT reputation?).  She likes her crate, although Charlie still thinks it belongs to him and climbed in there with her, the big doofus.  Clare and Charlie stood the night watch and slept on the living room floor beside her.
Big day planned today - new collar, food bowl and a couple of toys, a good bath.

"PEEK-A-BOO!!"
["BITSY" - OUT OF PIPPIN & TEDDY 3-22-2010 LITTER]
Thanks again, Chris.  I think this will work out just fine.

JULY 18, 2010

Dear Chris,
I saw your ad in the Hartford Courant today and checked out the website somehow thinking I knew you were the same people who sold me my incredible, gentle, beautiful Golden 14 years ago. I have often been asked where I got our dog, Riley, because he has the most unusual temperment, even for a Golden. Though your phone number has changed slightly, the address is the same. I want you to know that I remember walking around your beautiful property visiting with the parents of all of your dogs, listening to you tell me how you breed not only for classic Golden traits but also for temperment. You were so right. Not only that, but Riley is 14 years old and though these weeks of heat and humidity are affecting him (isn't it true for all of us?) he is an old guy but still going strong. Thank you so much for your time and care in breeding these dogs. I am thrilled that you are still "in the business". When I am ready for another, I will contact you. Please, if you change your number again, contact me and let me know. As it comes up in the future, I will send your way all who ask about where we got Riley. Thank you again for these 14 years with a remarkable dog,
Mindy

THIS DARLING PUPPY GIRL [RED YARN COLLAR] WAS JUST PLACED WITH AN AWESOME FAMILY FROM NEW YORK!  THEY ARE ALL GOING TO HAVE SO MUCH FUN TOGETHER!  HER NAME IS 'BAILEY"!!

August 12, 2010

Hi Chris - I wanted to let you know we arrived home safely with Bailey. The car ride was an absolute pleasure with her. She just snuggled next to the kids for the entire 4 hours. The only reason we had to stop was so the kids could rotate who was sitting next to her! We had a wonderful visit with you and enjoyed tremendously meeting your dogs and all the sweet and beautiful puppies you had. Hardest part was picking only one! Thanks again for the time you spent with us and for all the great info you have provided. We will keep in touch. Take care - Kathleen - NY

Bailey is adjusting well to her new surroundings. She is cautiously taking in all the new sounds & smells. She slept in her crate last night from 11 pm to 6 am. I blocked it off with cardboard duct taped leaving about 3/4 of it for her but by the morning she had stretched out & moved it. I'll try to secure it better. She is not quite sure what to make of the 3 steps going into the house, so I carried her in & out last night. Today, I placed her on the first step to gradually get her used to the steps. I know it's only a matter of time before she gets acclimated to her new home. You can tell already what a sweet disposition & loving personality she has. There will never be a shortage of love for her in our home. Take care - Kathleen - NY Aug. 13, 2010 - P. S. My children are already telling me when they grow up & have houses of their own how many goldens they are going to have!

GRACIE - ONE YEAR LATER!!
[LACEY - TEDDY 6-4-2009 LITTER]

Hi Chris,

Just one year ago today, I picked up a friendly little puppy, whom I named Gracie, from you. Well, we have had an exciting year together and I'd like to share some of the highlights.

We attended and passed a basic six week obedience class. Gracie truly enjoyed the time in class, especially when she could see all her canine friends from week to week.

Back in March she stayed at the Pet Resort in Colchester while I was in Pennsylvania. Apparently, she impressed everyone with her friendliness and her ability to get along with many other dogs as they invited her back for another stay at any time. The next stay will be with Doggie Day Care as soon as this weather breaks.

She loves all animals - for example, she brought me two teenage bunnies one night that she found in the yard. I thanked her and asked her to take them back outside. She appeared to gather them both, and I thought she did, but two days later I found one bunny crouched behind my mother's chair! Suddenly, Gracie was no longer interested in showing me how carefully she could hold it in her mouth because she would not go near it. A borrowed Hav-A-Hart trap caught the rabbit and I returned it to Mother Nature. Gracie also is attracted to toads, frogs, and moles. And she will attempt to climb a tree after squirrels.

Of course, she enjoys our walks, seeing other people and dogs, going to the drive up window at the banks (yummy treats!), and gets excited when school is open and the neighborhood kids wait for the bus down at the corner.

One wonderful trait Gracie has is to stay in the unfenced part of the yard. She races around bushes and trees and tries to scare birds, chipmunks, and rabbits out of their hiding places. She is very good about not going into the road, but she will slip across the driveway to gather bread that my neighbor puts out for the birds. Even other people have noticed how closely she watches me to see what I'm doing or where I'm going.

So, I thought you'd like to see several most recent photos of Grace. She still has her "angel wings", as you can see. Thanks for a very special dog - and friend!

Lucille

DECEMBER 12, 2009

Dear Chris,

Just have to let you know how great Gracie (Lacey & Teddy's 6-4-2009 Litter) is doing. She is a wonderful puppy who greets everyone as a friend. She continues to be careful around my mother. Gracie does not go near her when she uses her walker, but waits until she is seated in her chair. Then Gracie sits right next to her as if she is waiting for my mother to ask her for something!

Gracie is an eager car passenger and loves to go for rides, no matter how long or short. Early on, she figured that going to the bank drive up window is definitely worth the trip. People in the bank crowd the window to tell her how beautiful she is, and then give her a bone! How much better can it get?

As you can see from the photo, Gracie is growing into a beautiful dog. But she is more than that; she is a joy to have as part of the family. Thanks for all the work you do to have such special dogs.

Merry Christmas to you and your family,

Lucille

FEBRUARY 13, 2010

Hi Chris,

I wanted to update you on three puppies my family and I have adopted from your kennel.  Mo and Sadie Mae are from Teddy and Tara's litter.  Mo is from the Nov. 15, 225 litter and Sadie Mae is from the Dec. 12, 2007 litter.  My brother adopted Mya in May of 2006 (so it was probably a litter from March 2006) and I do not recall her parents.  I believe one was Cooper and the other may have been Shasta.

Attached are a few recent pics of the "pups".  I can literally write an entire novel on each of them, and have a million brag books!  I have yet to meet anyone who does not like the pups!

I will give you some anecdotal records at another time, but I had recently visited your website and needed to let you see some great pics of the babies.  Yes, they are technically dogs, but they will always be babies in my family's eyes!

Warmest regards,

Lori

[Olivia & Cooper's Red Yarn Boy - DOB: 9/8/09

Hi Chris,

Ben, along with his brothers, chose the newest family member's name...he really took to your Teddy and decided that our dog would do well to follow in his distinguished paw-steps! And Blue Hills Theodore, also called Teddy, Good Boy, Sweetie and Best Baby is really doing his grandpa proud thus far.

We knew this pup was special but we are truly amazed at what a wonderful dog he is!  His bathroom manners are impeccable (thank you so much!) He has pottied just where he is supposed to and he is very good about taking care of business before play time.  Teddy loves a good run around our back yard after finishing potty duty and he *really* loves playing in the snow! We have our boots, hats, gloves and coats at the ready as this boy loves the outdoors...just like us!

He spent most of his first day hanging out with us in the family room and introducing and re-introducing himself to all of us one by one as we sat on the floor;  naturally, he got several good naps in and out of the crate as well! Yesterday, we had a couple of brief visits from close friends and family and he was so friendly and polite, saying hello to everyone and then returning to my side for praise. Teddy has adopted Christy's favorite spot as his own...on the rug in front of the couch in the family room... he will go straight there when he comes in from outside or while he is waiting for us to put our coats and boots on to go out, or just to be next to Jack and me when we are reading on the couch. He is very gradually exploring the downstairs with supervision and has slept through both nights in his crate with very minimal complaints...the 2 liter soda bottle with warm water was a really great tip!

I think Teddy is going to be an excellent alert dog, he is very attuned to sounds. When the phone or doorbell ring or a car drive into the driveway,  he barks and comes to me, then I praise him. It is funny that he knows to stop barking once I respond to him! He is also very good about making eye contact with me, so I'm incorporating some sign language along with spoken commands.

We are all so impressed with how smart, responsive, affectionate and relaxed he is! You have done such a marvelous job preparing him to be a spectacular member of our family... thank you so much!!!

Lisa

PART 2:

Hi Chris,
You are welcome to post our comments to your website, I will send along photos next time I am on the computer.
Teddy continues to do well... he has been sleeping through the night without messing his crate once. He's quite happy to chew on his toys rather than anything that will earn him an "off!"- he also really loves to hike in the woods and then crash for a good nap afterwards. He is quite fascinated by his reflection in the french doors at night...adorable!
Loving this little (big all too soon!) guy, pics to follow!
Lisa

[DEC. 23, 2008 - SOPHIE/JEDEDIAH LITTER - 'PINK YARN COLLARED FEMALE' - (See Sophie's Photo Gallery For Puppy & Litter Pics)]

I thought I would send you a picture of Miss Molly on Christmas morning.  She was such a good girl Santa left quite a few new toys.  Since her birthday was December 23, we had to celebrate both days so she was a happy girl!  Not in the least bit spoiled.
She is taking a Canine Good Citizen class now and doing very well and also taking an Agility class.  Boy does she ever love that one.  Now if I could just keep up with her.  I thought she would be a bit timid going through the tunnel the first time never having seen one but I was so wrong ---- she barrels through that thing like there is no tomorrow.  I guess we will have to keep on this track for a while.  She is such a good girl.  We are working toward the Therapy Dog recognition.  She has the personality for it.  We'll get there - she is still a puppy --- one year old.  My baby.
More pictures soon.

Another Awesome Update From "Charlie's" Mom!!

Hi Chris- Happy Holidays to you and yours.  I wanted to send you a photo of “Charlie” so that you could see how GORGEOUS he is!  He has the sweetest temperament and is so good around all of our kids (big and little)-    He looks a little (and sometimes acts a little)  like a teenager now and we just love him to death.  It was really quite something to witness as he hopped like a rabbit through the foot of snow we got this weekend.  He has really been a wonderful addition to our family.  Thank you again and I hope that the new year brings you joy and prosperity (and many more beautiful Emanuel Homestead pups!)-  Merry Christmas- Kellie

Dear Chris,
Meryl and I thought we would drop you a note bragging about our beautiful golden Jake. He was from the 4/09 litter of Teddy and Pippin. He is growing fast, and weight about 60 lbs. at 6 months. He is a beautiful light color.
Jake is a wonderful dog. He is sweet, affectionate, playful and loves to hang out with the family. In short, Jake is the perfect family dog. He has all the traits you brag about on your website. People stop us on the street all the time and go out of there way to say how handsome he is. I think it's quite unusual, but a testament to your fine breeding, that strangers take the time to tell us so. In some positions we think Jake looks just like Pippin, but in others he looks just like Teddy. He is sort of the "Mona Lisa" of the dog world. He is exceptionally lithe, almost "catlike", and quite athletic. He has the amazing sonorous baritone bark that really grabs your attention. We think he is a bit like Keanu Reeves--he's gorgeous but sometimes doesn't know how to act! (We know...he's just a puppy!!).
Thank you so much for providing us with such a fine dog. He has quickly become a beloved member of our family and our neighborhood.
Anyone who want a golden would be nuts not to get one from you!!
Thanks again,
Dan and Meryl

Chris:

I just wanted to (finally) drop you a line and tell you how wonderful my new best friend is. Molson (from Teddy & Pippen) is now about 4 1/2 months old and he is just an exceptional puppy in every way. His temperament is exactly what you told us you were striving for. He is kind, loving, incredibly calm, smart, obedient, and just a bundle of love and fun. He has been a delight to train. We had him basically housebroken the first day ( a few minor accidents, but those were mostly our fault), he walks on a leash like a pro, and he was a star pupil in his obedience training class. Everyone in the class said they wished they could get their dog to behave as well as Molson does and wanted to know how I did it. The truth is that Molson deserved all of the credit. If he could figure out what I wanted, he would do it. He sleeps through the night in his crate, politely waits his turn to eat or drink until our Yorkie has had her fill, and will sit calmly for long car rides. He loves everyone, makes friends everywhere, and he is especially calm and affectionate around young children. I really don't know how a dog could be any better.

I have attached a photo of Molson doing his favorite thing, relaxing in his wading pool. As you can see, he is a very handsome boy. In fact, the only problem we have had with Molson may be that it takes forever to get anywhere with him, because everyone has to stop to pet and admire him. He, of course, loves all of the attention and is not happy until he has given everyone a chance to admire and compliment him.

Molson was my Father's Day present. My wife and kids were the ones who really wanted a puppy and they were clever enough to realize that by making him a gift from the kids I couldn't say no. I am very lucky to have such a clever family because Molson is without doubt the best Father's Day present I ever received.

Hi Chris.
I just want to update you again on Callie, who we picked up from you in July of 2008. She is such a truly good and gentle animal--like nothing I have ever seen in a dog so young. Just a few examples from recent days:
  • I have been painting all the rooms of our house very methodically by moving a tarp and paint tray from wall to wall. I thought that I would have to crate her. But all I had to do was show her the tarp and gently tell her "No." She has been trailing me around the house for three days now always respecting the tarp and staying out of the way. I enjoy her company!!
  • We drove from Connecticut, down to Charleston, S.C. over to Atlanta, GA, and back. As you already know, that's a lot of car time. At both the campground and the hotel she was the ideal travel dog and I would take her again anywhere.
  • We recently asked someone to come in at the last minute to give her a potty break while we were away for the day. The person left a message on our machine saying that Callie responded to verbal instructions just as if she were an obedient child.
We love our dog and would recommend your kennel to anyone!
Nana S.

TASHA - TEDDY -  LITTER - DOB- 5-3-07 - "PURPLE" FEMALE

Dear Chris:
Thought you'd like an update on how little Miss Tele is doing in her new home.
Our very first impression of her is "amazing". Her temperament is incredibly mild and loving, and her intelligence is absolutely mind-boggling!
For example: She has been in our home only two full days (today is Saturday). This morning, she went to the door, looked up at her leash, looked at the door again, looked up at her leash, then looked at me. I "got it" immediately and took her out for a "potty walk", and she went!
The crate training is going really really well, and I think that is why the quick leash/door association for her. We have had one actual 'accident' so far, and I turned it into something positive. I sopped up the piddle with paper towels, and took it outside to the outdoor kennel and left it there. After I was done mopping up with Lysol, I took her out to where the magic pee papers were, and she sniffed around and went. Not only piddled but did a fairly decent pile of business, too!
She listens very well, doesn't wander off, and has been introduced to the next-door neighbors, and my daughter and grandson. She acted like she'd always known them, greeted them calmly and quietly. Everyone is amazed at her low-key, laid-back style.
My first impression of Emanuel Homestead was "wow, look at how well those dogs are behaving". Ken & I are really just amazed at how well all of them, and our little one, are so relaxed and happy. If all of your dogs could have spoken, they would've been saying, "Hey.....come and join us!"
I sent the paperwork to the AKC the day after we brought her home, and her name is 'officially':
Telecaster Tasha Whitman
We said 'thank you' to Teddy & Tasha on our way out of your place Wed. evening, and now Tele has the middle name as a tribute.
She is eating wonderfully well, and loves running around on our lawn. We took her into the woods this morning to visit Meeki in his resting place.
Her favorite toy so far (she has two sets, one set of 'supervised' toys and one set of 'safe stuff') are a set of Nylabone keys that look like your typical baby keys. She is so funny with them.....she'll pick them up in her mouth and cart them off to chew on. She also likes this stupid-looking Loofah thing that we call 'Boo-Boo' because it's the same one in the Petco commercial.
When I get the pictures into the computer, I will send you some of her first day home.
We'll keep you posted & let you know how she is doing, and please feel free to inquire about her any time you would like.
This little dog is truly a gift to us!
Thanks again.....Sally & Ken & Tele Whitman

Hi Chris,
We just wanted to thank you for our sweet and adorable puppy! As you know, we were not completely ready to take a puppy home on Saturday, but all five of us fell in love with her. Now that she is here, we realize that we were really missing having a puppy in our lives. Miley is calm, obedient and great with the kids. We have found her to be incredibly easy to train.

hello chris, liza (from teddy and tara's 12/1/06 litter) is 13 months old now, 65 lbs and we are head over heels in love with her. she is mellow, affectionate and easy going. we can take her anywhere, she spent new years eve in boston traveling on the 't' and all over the city, everyone is her new best friend. she greets all new people by sitting on their foot, leaning on their leg and putting her head up to be petted, she is hard to resist. the compliments we get on her are neverending in fact we have never been so popular walking by ourselves as we are walking with her. she is great with our 10 year old and they have become best buddies. liza is still working on some training. her mischief is mild and easily corrected. for commands, she will give high fives, down, stay, wait, heel, roll over, crawl, speak, and lets go she does well, we are still working on getting her to come every time we call. she is great on and off leash when we go hiking and her photos won the first prize ribbon at the sterling fair.....i guess this is just my long winded way of saying she is perfect. we see that tara and teddy have had another batch of the worlds best dog, anyone would be lucky to have one, im wondering if we might be lucky enough to have 2. Will this be Tara's last litter? we are considering another dog, we just weren't really considering it just yet.... but you never know with this bunch hope you enjoy the pictures. we enjoy her! thanks so much, donna milliard~
